More gay Christmas movies! You Should Meet My Son is a heartwarming comedy about the conservative Mae Davis and her spinster sister Rose, who are trying to find the perfect girlfriend for Mae’s son Brian.
When they accidentally find out Brian’s gay, they are determined to find him the perfect boyfriend, instead of a girlfriend, just for the holidays.
I love how the mother is conservative and shocked at the beginning, though she doesn’t reject her own son. She thinks he deserves all the love and happiness in the world.
While finding the perfect boyfriend for her son, Mae and Rose dive into the LGBTQ+ world and community, including visiting gay bars, online gay dating, drag queens, and leather men.
There’s also a sequel, You Should Meet My Son 2!, which was released in 2018. This movie is about a gay wedding and a religious mother trying to stop it.

- The Christmas Setup (2020)
Not only does Hallmark listen to their viewers, but Lifetime does, too. First, we got gay Christmas movie The Christmas Setup and then the lesbian Christmas movie Under the Christmas Tree!
Lifetime included a gay kiss in a movie before (Twinkle All the Way), but The Christmas Setup is Lifetime’s first movie about a gay romance, portrayed by a real-life gay couple!
The story is about Hugo and Patrick, who grow close together during the holiday season. But when Hugo gets offered a promotion in London, he must decide what matters most: his new love or career.
- Holiday Heart (2000)
In Holiday Heart, we see a gay drag queen named Holiday, who takes in and forms a bond with struggling single mother Wanda and her daughter Niki during the holidays.
The actor Ving Rhames stars as the character Holiday. You might know him from other movies, such as Pulp Fiction, Mission Impossible, and Zombie Apocalypse.
