The Trans-Siberian Railway is one of the most famous railways in the world. And with Trans-Siberian people often mean the Trans-Mongolian Railway. The official Trans-Siberian goes from Moscow to Vladivostok. The other one rides from Moscow all the way to Beijing, through Mongolia. We decide to travel the latter and captured the beautiful imagery along the road. This is our Trans Siberian gallery.

Travelling off season (from November until April) means you will enjoy views of a magical winter wonderland in Russia! The real winter is too cold for us, so we start our railway adventure in spring. Luckily Russia is still covered in a magical blanket of white. While making our way down to Mongolia and China, we see the landscape change from white to barren to green!

In total we travel eight separate train rides. We start in Moscow and travel through Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ulan Ude and Ulan Bator to Beijing. Travelling multiple rides in different classes gives us the complete Trans Siberian experience. If you add all the rides up, we travelled 136 hours, covering 7.438 kilometers. Yes, that is a average of only 55 km/h! Want to see what we saw passing by our windows? Take a look at the gallery!

Read here about our tips to survive the Trans-Siberian Railway. And don’t forget to take a look at the Russia, Mongolia and China Galleries!
