As the world’s largest country Russia covers nine time zones and positioned on two continents: Europe and Asia, sharing borders with fifteen other countries. In this massive country covers multiple climate zones and the extremes are enormous. The summers are hot with temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius. The winters are harsh with temperatures down to -50 degrees Celsius. Especially the winter makes Russia an incredible country that very much has a ‘fairy tale’ factor. Take a look at our Russia gallery.
Travelling to Russia during low season is a magical experience. In spring, when the temperatures are still harsh but well enough to handle, the natural sights are still covered in a magical blanket of white. Not only the natural sights are visually very pleasing, also the cultural sights in Russia are incredible and majestic. The many churches, mosques, statues, kremlins, and even ‘normal’ buildings: it is breathtaking.
During our Russia trip we travel to Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Olkhon Island, and Ulan Ude. From the nine time zones we cross five. In addition we cross different climates and experience extreme cold, but also milder temperatures. We see how the culture changes from west to east, how buildings look different, how people look different.
