Budapest is probably on everyone’s bucket list. It was definitely high up on ours for a long time. A magical city that’s perfect for a visit during our Europe castle trip. To make our stay even more fantastic we sleep at Mercure Budapest Buda. Its location is perfect, just a 10-minute walk to the fairytale-like Fisherman’s Bastion. Let us tell you everything about our extraordinary stay in LGBT-friendly Mercure Budapest Buda.
CASTLE DISTRICT BUDA
Mercure Budapest Buda is centrally located in the Buda side of Budapest. It’s just a 10-minute walk to the Fisherman’s Bastion, which is so perfect. Especially if you want to go to the Bastion for sunrise. Train- and metro-station Budapest-Déli is less than a 5-minute walk away, which makes it easy to get around. The city centre is just 4 stops away! In addition, you can take buses and trams nearby too.
The hospitality and friendliness of the staff stand out right away. We arrive way earlier than the official check-in time, but that isn’t a problem at all; we can already check-in. The hotel is busy renovating, as the last renovation was done in the 80s. The exterior and reception still look a bit old fashioned – yet good looking still. When we arrive at our room we see the huge differences in design and we’re loving the new look.
The difference between our room and the rest of the hotel is huge. It promises good things for the future. We love the design of the room. Especially the Fisherman’s Bastion-art on the wall behind our bed is amazing. The room is perfect and has everything we need. Our view from the room is the train station – how fitting, during our interrail journey! We can imagine the view on the other side of the hotel is even better, overlooking the castle hill. Since the hotel is located is so close to the train station you might think you hear noises, but it is very quiet.
We love breakfast. Mercure Budapest Buda has a breakfast buffet with great variety. You can already make us happy with an omelette, and even more happy when they make a smiley on it! If you’re more a sweet breakfast kind of person: don’t worry, they change the omelette stationary into a fresh waffle stand every now and then. In the Budavár restaurant you can also eat lunch and dinner. On the menu you can find a wide range of traditional and international dishes. If you’re just looking for a drink: there’s also a bar!
Mercure Budapest Buda is a wonderful hotel for your stay in Budapest. Its location is fantastic and the hospitality great. We can’t wait to come back when it’s all renovated!
